Visita in Calabria, questa mattina, per il Capo del Dipartimento nazionale di Protezione Civile, Fabio Ciciliano, per un importante momento di confronto con il Sistema regionale di Protezione Civile. Accompagnato dal direttore dell’Ufficio Volontariato e risorse del Servizio Nazionale del Dipartimento, Sisto Russo, dal direttore generale regionale, Domenico Costarella, e dal consulente della presidenza in materia di Protezione Civile, Agostino Miozzo, Ciciliano ha dapprima incontrato dirigenti e funzionari regionali presso il Polo Logistico di Germaneto (foto), una delle realtà più importanti del Mezzogiorno in termini di mezzi e attrezzature a disposizione in tema di prevenzione e tutela del territorio. Il capo Dipartimento ha osservato da vicino le dotazioni presenti nel Polo: moduli abitativi, tende, gruppi elettrogeni, trattori stradali, pk, camion gru, cassonati e Bobcat e dopo un momento di confronto con il personale di Protezione Civile, ha anche visionato il nuovo progetto di ampliamento del polo logistico che rappresenterà nel giro di pochi anni uno dei centri di Protezione Civile maggiormente all’avanguardia del Paese. A seguire Ciciliano ha incontrato nella sala verde della Cittadella regionale di Catanzaro, il mondo del volontariato calabrese di Protezione Civile, una risorsa essenziale del Sistema con oltre cinquemila volontari suddivisi in circa 350 associazioni. In questo nuovo scenario è stata sottolineata la necessità di rendere sempre più attrattiva e appassionante quest’attività il cui fine è quello di essere direttamente a supporto della collettività. Successivamente, il capo Dipartimento Ciciliano ha incontrato il presidente della Regione Calabria, Roberto Occhiuto, e i prefetti calabresi, per fare il punto sulle principali tematiche di Protezione Civile che riguardano il territorio regionale e a seguire ha visitato la Control Room dell’operazione Tolleranza Zero in materia antincendi per condividere le innovazioni tecnologiche che la Calabria ha messo in campo nel monitoraggio del territorio e nelle attività di deterrenza. “Questo governo regionale è virtuoso -ha detto Ciciliano- i dati certificano, negli ultimi due anni, una riduzione in Calabria dell’80% degli incendi e così facendo si vince. Mi auguro che ciò continui e inizi a diventare magari un modello esportabile a livello europeo, come ho detto allo stesso Occhiuto. Un primato di condivisione che venga messo a disposizione di tutti, diventando patrimonio della comunità”.
