La siccità con la mancanza di acqua per garantire il ricambio idrico e l’aumento della salinità lungo la costa soffoca vongole e cozze del delta del Po con la perdita del 20% degli allevamenti. È quanto emerge dal monitoraggio della Coldiretti sugli effetti della drammatica ondata di caldo e siccità che sta colpendo l’Italia causando perdite alle produzioni alimentari nazionali che hanno raggiunto i tre miliardi di euro. “L’innalzamento delle temperature senza la possibilità di ricambi di acqua -spiega Coldiretti Impresapesca- sta provocando l’espansione a macchia d’olio della cosiddetta “acqua bianca”, aree di delta dove la decomposizione di alghe e sostanze organiche ruba l’ossigeno necessario alla vita di vongole e cozze uccidendole. Con il cambiamento della distribuzione nella pioggia dal punto di vista geografico e temporale e la mancata gestione ottimale delle lagune, si sta mettendo a rischio un intero settore che -spiega Coldiretti- ogni anno porta sulle tavole degli italiani oltre 93 milioni di chili di molluschi fra cozze e vongole”.
