«L’assessora al Bilancio, Irene Calabrò, resta saldamente al suo posto. La sua posizione non è minimamente messa in discussione». Lo ha detto il sindaco facente funzioni di Reggio, Paolo Brunetti, nel corso del consiglio comunale, respingendo al mittente la richiesta di dimissioni della delegata alle Finanze avanzata dalla minoranza, riconoscendo, nell’esponente del governo cittadino, «doti e competenza di valore assoluto e indubbi meriti, portati avanti col sindaco Giuseppe Falcomatà, nell’aver fatto uscire dalle secche i conti disastrati dell’Ente». «A brevissimo – ha detto – approveremo in giunta lo schema di bilancio del rendiconto 2021 che verrà, successivamente, trasferito alle commissioni».
L’intervento dell’inquilino di Palazzo San Giorgio si è, poi, concentrato sulla crisi che sta colpendo i lavoratori della Lactalis con la paventata chiusura dello stabilimento di San Gregorio: «Faremo il possibile per scongiurare un dramma pronto ad abbattersi su 79 famiglie reggine. Dopo un confronto con le maestranze ed i sindacati, abbiamo deciso di invitare ad un confronto il management della multinazionale dell’agroalimentare affinché riveda le proprie politiche aziendali salvaguardando i posti di lavoro a rischio e pensando ad un loro ricollocamento».
Brunetti, infine, ha condiviso le preoccupazioni emerse dall’aula dopo l’inchiesta che ha coinvolto i vertici dell’Università “Mediterranea” e, confermando pieno ed incondizionato sostegno al lavoro della magistratura, si è augurato «venga fatta presto piena luce su fatti, riportati dalla stampa, che minano dalle fondamenta un’istituzione che è il fiore all’occhiello della città». «E’ una ferita per tutti», ha detto aggiungendo: «Compreso per gli indagati che avranno la possibilità di chiarire la loro posizione. Intanto, nei prossimi giorni, incontrerò il nuovo rettore facente funzioni, Felice Costabile, per continuare una collaborazione fattiva e costruita negli anni».(AG
