Sono stati individuati e arrestati dalla squadra mobile di Crotone due scafisti di nazionalità turca coinvolti nello sbarco di migranti avvenuto nella giornata di mercoledì 3 novembre e ritenuti responsabili di favoreggiamento dell’immigrazione clandestina per aver condotto un’imbarcazione carica di migranti dalle coste turche a quelle italiane. Nella prima mattinata erano giunti in località Capo Cimiti del Comune di Isola di Capo Rizzuto 161 migranti di diverse nazionalità (pakistani, afgani, bengalesi, somali e turchi), appena sbarcati per mezzo di un motopeschereccio rimasto poi incastrato nella scogliera.
Sin dalle prime ore successive allo sbarco, l’attenzione degli inquirenti si era concentrata su due persone di nazionalità turca individuati ad una distanza di 5 km dal luogo dello sbarco mentre cercavano di eludere i controlli delle forze dell’ordine, nel tentativo di dileguarsi nella folta vegetazione che caratterizza le zone circostanti. La Polizia ha effettuato un controllo dei loro apparati cellulari al fine di poter estrapolare dei dati utili a suffragare l’ipotesi investigativa iniziale. Dal controllo sono emersi filmati e fotografie che mostravano i tre durante il viaggio verso la Calabria. Sono stati trovati anche altri documenti che permettevano di identificare i due come scafisti. Sotto il coordinamento della Procura della Repubblica di Crotone, tenuta costantemente al corrente degli sviluppi, le attività investigative sono proseguite consentendo il loro fermo.
