Inquinamento ambientale e discarica abusiva. Sono i reati ipotizzati dalla procura di Vibo per ingenti sversamenti illeciti di rifiuti nell’area della dismessa compagnia generale ‘Resine Sud’ di Portosalvo, frazione di Vibo. I carabinieri della sezione di polizia giudiziaria hanno notificato un avviso di garanzia a Francesco Mirigliani e Adolfo Domenico Monteresso, imprenditori nella raccolta dei rifiuti ferrosi, a conclusione dell’inchiesta, avviata a maggio scorso,
dal procuratore Camillo Falvo e dal pm Filomena Aliberti. A maggio c’era stato il sequestro di un’area di 100.000 mq, nell’ambito della quale le verifiche dei vigili del fuoco hanno disvelato allarmanti livelli di inquinamento, con sospetti valori di radioattività. La vicenda ha richiamato l’attenzione del ministro dell’Ambiente.
L’indagine ha fatto luce sul degrado nell’area dove aveva sede la dismessa società C.G.R., a suo tempo impegnata nella produzione di resine sintetiche e nella costruzione di impianti chimici. All’interno del sito è stato scoperto un ingente quantitativo di rifiuti speciali anche pericolosi (pneumatici fuori uso, eternit, materiale ferroso), nonché un cospicuo numero di ecoballe. L’esame radiometrico dell’Arpacal aveva permesso di accertare un livello elevato di radioattività, non risultato tuttavia ascrivibile ai due indagati.
Legambiente Calabria, insieme ai circoli di Vibo Valentia e Ricadi, rivolge il proprio plauso ai carabinieri della Sezione di Polizia Giudiziaria e ai magistrati della Procura di Vibo Valentia per l’indagine che ha consentito di ipotizzare a carico di due indagati i reati di inquinamento ambientale e concorso nella realizzazione di discarica abusiva, per gli ingenti sversamenti illeciti di rifiuti nell’area della dismessa “Compagnia Generale Resine Sud” di Porto Salvo.
«Un’area – spiega Anna Parretta, presidente di Legambiente Calabria – in cui sono stati rilevati preoccupanti livelli di inquinamento e sospetti valori di radioattività, e che ora è stata sequestrata. Rivolgiamo un ringraziamento al procuratore Camillo Falvo e al sostituto Filomena Aliberti per l’attenzione che hanno deciso di rivolgere al settore dei reati ambientali, in cui la Calabria purtroppo registra dati preoccupanti, in particolare in quelli riferiti al ciclo dei rifiuti, e nel quale ancora una volta emerge il coinvolgimento di professionisti e imprenditori. E’ importante tenere alta la guardia, perseguire con determinazione i responsabili, ma soprattutto dare il via ad un intervento di messa in sicurezza e di bonifica a salvaguardia dell’ambiente e della salute dei cittadini».
«Nel corso degli anni – spiegano i Circoli di Vibo e Ricadi- molti dubbi e sospetti sono emersi per la possibile presenza di rifiuti in varie aree del territorio vibonese. Come circolo abbiamo segnalato più volte che buona parte delle vecchie discariche comunali, ormai dismesse per effetto della legge vigente, non sono state bonificate e addirittura, molte di queste sono accessibili a tutti con il grave rischio che vengano depositati rifiuti anche pericolosi. Auspichiamo la loro immediata messa in sicurezza e nel contempo un intervento radicale, risolutivo e di bonifica che fughi anche ogni legittimo dubbio che prevale tra la popolazione».
