Dalla notte scorsa la provincia di Crotone è interessata da piogge torrenziali che stanno creando notevoli disagi in diversi comuni. Sulla sola città di Crotone tra le sette e le otto del mattino sono caduti quasi 200 millimetri d’acqua che sono andati ad ingrossare tutti i corsi d’acqua già al limite dello straripamento per la pioggia che era caduta altrettanto abbondante nella notte. Le vie di alcune zone della città, che si trovano al di sotto del livello del mare come il quartiere Marinella, sono diventate dei fiumi di acqua, con fango e detriti che hanno letteralmente sommerso tutte le auto in sosta ed allagato garage e magazzini. I vigili del fuoco sono tempestati da richieste di soccorso da vari punti della città ed alcune abitazioni sono state evacuate per precauzione. Già da ieri sera la protezione civile aveva diramato l’allerta rossa, la massima, per la provincia di Crotone fino all’alto Jonio cosentino. Il sindaco di Crotone, Vincenzo Voce, ha riunito in seduta permanente il Centro operativo comunale di protezione civile che sta monitorando la situazione in contatto costante con Prefettura, Protezione civile e Vigili del fuoco. Al momento non si registrano feriti ma la situazione meteo in queste ore è destinata a peggiorare per cui è stato rinnovato l’invito a tutti i cittadini di restare a casa per motivi di sicurezza ma anche per non ostacolare il lavoro delle squadre di soccorso che sono tutte impegnate sul territorio. Per i crotonesi in queste ore è tornato l’incubo della devastante alluvione che il 14 ottobre del 1996 provocò sei vittime e danni per milioni di euro.
