Una condanna a 14 anni e 6 mesi di reclusione è stata inflitta dai giudici del Tribunale di Crotone a don Edoardo Scordio, l’ex parroco di Isola Capo Rizzuto e correttore spirituale della Misericordia, a conclusione del processo scaturito dall’operazione della Dda di Catanzaro denominata Johnny che nel maggio del 2017 ha portato alla luce le ingerenze della cosca Arena nella gestione del Centro di accoglienza per migranti e nell’economia del territorio di Isola Capo Rizzuto.
Complessivamente sono state indagate 124 persone. L’operazione ha fatto registrare 68 arresti tra cui quelli ‘eccellenti’ dell’ex governatore della Misericordia, Leonardo Sacco (condannato a 17 anni e 4 mesi nel processo con rito abbreviato) e del parroco di Isola Capo Rizzuto, don Edoardo Scordio entrambi accusati di associazione mafiosa. L’accusa era rappresentata dal sostituto procuratore della Dda Domenico Guarascio che aveva chiesto per Scordio la condanna a 18 anni di reclusione.
Nel processo scaturito dall’operazione Jonny sulle infiltrazioni delle cosche di Isola Capo Rizzuto nel centro di accoglienza per migranti di Sant’Anna conclusosi oggi davanti al Tribunale di Crotone erano complessivamente 38 le persone alla sbarra. I giudici hanno inflitto 21 condanne ma hanno pronunciato anche 17 assoluzioni. Tuttavia ha retto l’impianto accusatorio basato appunto sulle vicende legate alla gestione del Cara ed in particolare della mensa per i migranti. Gli inquirenti hanno sostenuto che i gestori facevano la cresta ai finanziamenti statali diretti alla struttura parte delle quali finivano nelle tasche degli esponenti dei clan. Otre alla condanna a 14 anni e 6 mesi di reclusione inflitta all’ex parroco di Isola Capo Rizzuto Edoardo Scordio, i giudici hanno condannato Fabrizio Arena a 7 anni; Pasquale Attianese, 1 anno e 11 mesi; Francesco Cantore a 10 anni; Salvatore Colacchio, 10 anni e 6 mesi; Aurora Cozza, 5 anni; Luigi Gareri, 9 anni; Vincenzo Godano, 1 anno e 6 mesi; Pasquale Gualtieri, 4 anni e 1 mese; Maria Lanatà, 6 anni e 6 mesi; Nicola Maiorino, 3 anni e 4 mesi; Antonio Manfredi, 16 anni; Tommaso Mercurio, 2 anni; Salvatore Pizzimenti, 1 anno e 6 mesi; Domenico Poerio, 12 anni; Pasquale Poerio, 5 anni e 8 mesi; Ercolino Raso, 7 anni; Luigi Rosario Sanzo, 4 anni; Antonio Saporito, 6 anni e 8 mesi; Giuseppe Tipaldi, 4 anni; Luigi Ventura, 1 anno e 6 mesi. Il Truibunale, inoltre, ha assolto Mario Ciliberto; Vincenzo Corda; Mario Gemelli; Giovambattista Greco; Raffaele Gualtieri; Domenico Guareri; Massimiliano Laforgia; Giuseppe Mancuso; Pasquale Manfredi; Luca Pietro Mercurio; Luigi Morrone; Santo Morrone; Beniamino Muto; Carmela NIcastro; Caterina Perri; Pietro Romeo; Tiziama Sestito.
