Con la discesa in campo del docente universitario Francesco Aiello per il Movimento 5 Stelle, cresce il numero dei candidati alla presidenza della Regione Calabria per le elezioni in programma il 26 gennaio. La scelta del M5S è l’ultima novità nel quadro politico calabrese, che al momento registra ancora varie incertezze, al punto che non sono esclude più candidature nel campo del centrodestra e del centrosinistra. Nel primo schieramento, da tempo ha lanciato la sua candidatura alla presidenza della Regione il sindaco di Cosenza, Mario Occhiuto, indicato da Forza Italia. Sul nome di Occhiuto, tuttavia, non c’è la condivisione né della Lega né di Fratelli d’Italia. In ogni caso, in Calabria la designazione del candidato governatore spetta a Forza Italia, che sta valutando ipotesi alternative a Mario Occhiuto. Anche nel centrosinistra la situazione è ancora molto fluida: il governatore uscente, Mario Oliverio, appoggiato da una parte del Pd e da altre forze del centrosinistra, ha riproposto la sua candidatura, non sostenuta però dalla segreteria nazionale democrat guidata da Nicola Zingaretti, che, tramontata definitivamente la possibilità di un’intesa con il M5S, è alla ricerca di un proprio candidato alla presidenza della Regione. Alle Regionali del 26 gennaio, infine, correranno in autonomia il geologo Carlo Tansi, già direttore della Protezione civile regionale, con “Tesoro Calabria”, Giuseppe Nucera, già presidente di Confindustria di Reggio Calabria, con “La Calabria che vogliamo”, e Francesco Di Lieto con il Codacons.
