“Lo dico in modo semplice, chiaro, diretto: ritengo allucinante questa vicenda, e la ritengo allucinante perché si contesta al presidente della Regione un reato di peculato senza che ci sia l’oggetto, la dazione di denaro, che non si contesta”. Lo ha detto il presidente della Regione Calabria, Mario Oliverio, parlando con i giornalisti a margine di una conferenza stampa, con riferimento all’ultima inchiesta della Procura di Catanzaro nella quale è indagato per peculato. “Si contesta piuttosto il fatto che – ha proseguito Oliverio – un’iniziativa di promozione turistica della Calabria, in una vetrina importante qual è il ‘Festival dei Due Mondi’, sia stata fatta non per promuovere la Calabria ma il presidente della Regione. Niente di più infondato, perché la Regione ha finanziato, con 100mila euro, un programma di promozione della Calabria e – ha sostenuto il governatore – l’ha fatto in quella vetrina, che è durata 15 giorni, con diversi strumenti, dalla cartellonistica a un desk a una scena con chef calabresi, e anche con un’intervista di un giornalista autorevole Paolo Mieli al presidente della Regione, e anche in quell’intervista c’è stata una promozione della Calabria perché il massimo rappresentante della Calabria in una sede come quella non promuove se stesso ma – ha concluso Oliverio – promuove la Calabria”.
