Quella di mercoledì 7 novembre a San Demetrio Corone, in occasione delle celebrazioni per il 550esimo anniversario della morte del condottiero albanese Giorgio Castriota Skarderberg, è stata una giornata interamente dedicata a rinsaldare e fortificare la storica condivisione di valori tra Calabria ed Albania. La cultura e la monoranza arbereshe nella nostra regione non è mai andata perduta. “Intendiamo perseguire e proseguire tale percorso comune, fondato e basato su analogie di valori e soprattutto su una storia comune. La Calabria è orgogliosa degli arbereshe, una comunità di origine albanese che ha saputo non solo integrarsi ma affermarsi come risorsa sul piano culturale, sociale ed etico” ha affermato il presidente Oliverio durante la visita del Presidente della Repubblica d’Albania, Ilir Meta, in Calabria per tre giorni, prima a Catanzaro, poi a San Demetrio Corone ed a Cosenza. Vogliamo sviluppare una cooperazione proficua incentrata sull’integrazione. “I nostri due Paesi sono uniti da un percorso secolare che ha visto la Calabria come terra d’approdo e d’accoglienza. Il presidente Mattarella è tornato in Calabria per rendere omaggio alla comunità arbereshe calabrese”. Oliverio ha anche annunciato ai nostri microfoni che la Calabria rientrerà nella macroregione Jonio-Adriatica.
